The Findings and Recommendations about the Jewish Center for the Aged were presented and people attending expressed their concerns and ideas for solutions. In June 2003, JUJ received an award for Democracy In Action from the American Jewish Congress for our work in challenging the JCA's proposed cuts in Medicaid beds and to encourage the JCA to recommit to its mission to serve all Jews who needs long-term care, regardless of their ability to pay. March 2003: JUJ sponsored a Public Forum on the Crisis at the Jewish Center for the Aged. Over 200 people attended and many people provided comments on their concerns about the JCA and its future commitment to its mission to care for the elders in our community.
