CRC mourns the death of the Reverend William G. Gillespie, the longtime pastor of Cote Brilliante Presbyterian Church. As a visionary leader, Rev. Gillespie helped create the special partnership that has existed between Cote Brilliante and CRC for more than 20 years, including projects such as our Cote Brilliante Elementary School mentoring program and the CRC-CBPC Joint Venture, which puts on our annual Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial service. Through his service, Rev. Gillespie touched the hearts of many members of the CRC community and made a difference for the broader St. Louis community.
Rev. Gillespie died Friday, June 3. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, June 10 at Cote Brilliante Presbyterian Church, 4673 Labadie Avenue. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 11 at the church. Burial will be at St. Peters UCC Cemetery in Normandy.
Rev. Gillespie is survived by his wife, Martha Gillespie; his daughter, Vendetta Gillespie Dennis of St. Louis County; his son, Harry E. Gillespie of Pittsburgh; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. CRC offers our condolences to the Gillespie family as well as to the Cote Brilliante family.
