The Radical Right isn't just after our courts.
They want our schools, too!

President Bush recently advocated teaching "intelligent design theory" in public schools.

Tell Atty Jeremiah Nixon you want science teachers teaching science, not religion!

Dear  Friend

It may be hard to believe that we are still fighting to protect the teaching of evolution eighty years after the infamous Scopes "monkey trial." But it remains very much under threat. On August 9, the Kansas Board of Education signed off on a new draft of science standards that includes language from "intelligent design" advocates, giving hope to extremists across the country.

Now they have the backing of the President of the United States. The President recently advocated the teaching of so-called "intelligent design theory" in public schools, something the National Academy of Sciences has denounced as "creationism in disguise."

Tell Atty Jeremiah Nixon you want science teachers teaching science, not religion! We must head off the Right Wing's attempts to use the President's influence to pressure your state leaders into surrendering public schools to their agenda.

Last month, the work of PFAW activists helped stall efforts by advocates of school vouchers to undermine public education through an expanded DC voucher program. As our public school teachers prepare to return to the classroom, we must show them that we'll be there to defend them from renewed assaults on their work from the radical religious right.

Apparently, President Bush doesn't think pandering to the Right Wing with his judicial appointments is sufficient -- he wants to aid their conquest of our schools, too. Tell Atty Jeremiah Nixon not to join him in this far right agenda!
